** GET READY TO PARTY
————————————————————
Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant We are pleased to invite Mile High Agile 2019 attendees to an evening of great music and conversation at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Denver. The Rio Grande has been serving Colorado its own brand of from-scratch Tex-Mex fare since 1986! We also love the history (https://riograndemexican.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/About-Us-Rio-Grande-Mexican-Restaurant.pdf) that founder and owner, Pat McGaughran, tells about the restaurant. Without booking this venue, we might not have learned about the rich 33-year history of this Coloradan icon. Coupled with some of the best Tex-Mex (and margaritas) downtown has to offer, we are hoping to take advantage of The Rio’s outdoor patio and the wonderful tunes of Dave Tamkin.

The social is the evening of May 29th starting promptly after the close of the day’s events. We’ll be giving away some prizes at this event that you will not want to miss!

MHA2019 Newsletter: Mile High Agile 2019: Announcing our Conference Social!

** CONFERENCE SOCIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
————————————————————

DAVE TAMKIN TO PLAY AT MILE HIGH AGILE 2019

We are thrilled to announce that Singer/Songwriter and local Boulder, CO resident, Dave Tamkin, will be playing at the conference social on the evening of May 29th (more details to follow). We are so excited to have Dave back again at the conference!

Dave has created his own unique style of rhythmic-acoustic sound that’s based on a fresh musical vision. His shows vary from intimate solo acoustic performances to a full band experience encapsulating a mixture of personal lyrics and skilled songwriting set against a high-energy percussive backbone.

He’s shared the stage with Guster, Brendan James, Rusted Root, Donavon Frankenreiter, Butch Walker, Freddy Jones Band, Eric Hutchinson, Willy Porter, Daphne Willis and Peter Mulvey to name a few. Tamkin has a style that’s hard to resist. His lyrics are unabashedly honest and his passion for playing is undying.

** CONVINCE YOUR BOSS
————————————————————

Attending Mile High Agile is an investment in skill building, professional development, and working relationships.

But a lot of attendees don’t buy their own tickets—most need to convince someone else (their boss) of the value. So we’ve developed materials to help you demonstrate to your employer just how valuable it would be to attend Mile High Agile. We’ve kept the materials brief to make it easy for you; a program summary, a highlight of the value, and a letter (email) to your employer.

Click here (http://www.milehighagile.org/convince-your-boss/) for more information.

** Interested in sponsoring the conference?

Now is the time to act! Sponsorship payments need to be in before May 5th to take advantage of logo placement our advertising clings.

** What do you do when you have everything to lose?
BE FIERCE!
————————————————————

** Our Closing Keynote for Mile High Agile 2019
————————————————————

We all go to conferences, attend meetups, read books, and subscribe to blogs. Every day we hear new ideas, but how many do we actually act on?

If you are thrown in the deep end of the pool and you don’t know how to swim, it can be a scary experience. As a leader, it can be easy to try a radical new idea, especially when you feel you have nothing to lose. But what if you have everything to lose? Fear can be paralyzing. It is the Fierce leader that ‘steps into the arena and dares to be different’.

Attend Em’s keynote to explore how Fierce leaders can survive and thrive by letting go of everything they think they have to lose and taking a radical leap into the unknown – with or without a net!

You can learn more about Em at her website (http://prettyagile.com.au/?mc_cid=b63b0b3174&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) , as well as her twitter (https://twitter.com/PrettyAgile?mc_cid=b63b0b3174&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) account.

*|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|*

** Are you excited for our opening keynote speaker Charles Vogl?
————————————————————

** WE ARE TOTALLY STOKED!
————————————————————
Charles is an industry expert who focuses on building a sense of community to help companies, leaders, and individuals transform loneliness and separation into connection and belonging. Not only will he be opening our conference with his keynote, “Creating a Culture of Belonging: Principles for Every Leader,” but we are really excited to announce that he will also be delivering a three-hour workshop! In the workshop, attendees will be able to spend more time with Charles and learn how to take the principles from his keynote to build cultures of connection, trust, and safety at their organizations – or really anywhere! We highly recommend that you show up early for this workshop, because it will fill up fast!

We’ve received many fine ideas for raffle prizes so far (we’ll probably not do the all inclusive trip to Bali, but definitely considering the free ticket to MHA2020 idea). 😉

We are leaving the survey open (https://meet.meetup.com/wf/click?upn=pEEcc35imY7Cq0tG1vyTt8ToSWf-2BiyAbN6Cb2bsebiBnlAqRqXC01-2FPsno0Gm-2BU-2B_tX9Nj-2Blwu7rwMHtxfTU-2FPI7ZubgSwnLbhIDKionmrpQHMOhT0hIkf8lz0Y0I-2FcCt-2FV2ymHjv4wEO0mAkdw5zJIREdJxhcmEPZbnp8XXNZ0FuAv1kEBMifNVPAgzxGtkh4ZvRZbBcek-2Fkl2pdjvSbv2a0ifAADjsm1BH7OR-2FVZ3SDCTZmG96WXkG4yZEsGBfIkU-2BXtQC4qFKX3OazEomJPQ-3D-3D) until April 12th to continue to capture your ideas.

Note: Permissions to the survey have been fixed!

** More Amazing Content
————————————————————

Last year we had many impressive speakers so we want to highlight four of our 2018 speakers who are joining us again for Mile High Agile 2019 (http://www.milehighagile.org) . There are so many awesome speakers this year that we on the Org Team are biting our nails trying to decide which sessions we’ll attend.

Decisions! Decisions! Decisions!

Building a Leadership Backlog – May 30th 9:00 a.m.
Getting leaders to adopt an Agile Mindset doesn’t happen by sending them to training. It won’t happen simply because they approved the funding to do a transformation. Many leaders need your experience and appreciation for how Agile works differently than what they may have seen in the past. Helping them build, own and progress through a backlog of system wide challenges is key to their success and the success of the teams. We will walk through some examples, create backlog items of your own and create an actionable plan to take back to our office during this workshop style session.

Agile Meets Mindfulness Workshop – May 29th 10:30 a.m.
This activity-based workshop will give you an understanding of what Mindfulness is and how it can be used in the workplace. In addition, you will learn how more than half of the 12 Agile Principles directly relate to Mindfulness. This workshop is for you if you’ve ever thought that some doors can only be opened from the inside.

Note: Wayde’s workshop last year was so! much! fun! we are really excited to have him back this year.

How Agile Can Transform Education: Case Study AP Seminar – May 30th 2:00 p.m.
Implementing a product roadmap in an Agile way can be tough. Roadmaps are often written as a document that isn’t easily accessible. This can lead to a variety of issues. In this session, Chris will show you a new method for visualizing your product roadmap, giving your team better decision-making information.

“You might be a great Scrum Master if…” – A Brief Guide to Scrum Mastery – May 30th 2:00 p.m.
The Scrum Guide defines what is expected of a Scrum Master. When you read it, I bet you react like “that’s a piece of cake!” But when you actually do it, many of us come to a realization that it’s really, really hard. (That’s what happened to me!) The Scrum Master job is hard because much of it has to do with humans, one of the most complex beings in the universe. Humans are intelligent; humans have emotions; and humans are unpredictable.
